THE CONCEPT ART MAP

Visual map of how concept art disciplines, tools, and influences connect.

OVERVIEW

The Concept Art Map started from the struggle of trying to grasp the concept art industry just by scrolling walls of text, posts, and random portfolio links. It never felt like I could see the bigger picture or where my own niche actually sat inside it.

So I decided to build a visual representation of that picture. I find that, seeing the whole system overview visually is the best way to understand the field. Seeing how everything connects and how different roles, skills, and requirements relate to each other.

This is v2 of The Concept Art Map. Instead of tools and resources, the focus is shifted to finding the essence, or the “core” of each discipline. It is encouraging the viewer to ask – “what exactly do I like about this field?” and “what is the main goal of the artwork?”

Assets were developed with performance constraints in mind, optimising geometry, textures, and file structure for mobile AR.

The workflow included GLTF export and integration-ready asset preparation. The work also involved animating vehicle assembly sequences and driving behaviours as part of the interactive experience.
